Chris was born and raised in Southern California. His family’s story in the United States began in LA when his grandparents immigrated and put down roots in North Hollywood. Chris didn’t grow up in church but came to faith in college thanks to InterVarsity. He went on to work in campus ministry, faith community organizing, and missions in Mexico, the Philippines, and Uganda. Chris earned his Master of Divinity from Gordon-Conwell Seminary and is finishing his Doctor of Ministry from Fuller Seminary. For the past decade, Chris was a non-profit leader in the anti-human trafficking field.

Hope moved around the country throughout her childhood, creating an appreciation for different cultures and a flexibility to find a home in any city. Hope came to faith in high school as she encountered God through Christian music. Her love for Scripture grew in college through InterVarsity and Bible Study Fellowship. Professionally, Hope has been a math teacher, campus minister, and now works for Compassion International.

Chris and Hope envision Shoreside Church as a place where people can encounter God in Scripture, experience the transforming love of Jesus, and find deep connections within the community.
