WHAT WE BELIEVE
THE GOSPEL
The gospel is the good news of what God has done for us through Jesus Christ. Jesus lived a sinless life, died for our sins, and rose from the dead, defeating sin and death. Through repentance and faith in Jesus, we are forgiven, reconciled to God, given new life through the Holy Spirit, and welcomed into his kingdom.
Mark 1:14-15; Romans 5:6-11; 1 Corinthians 15:1-4; 2 Corinthians 5:17-21
THE BIBLE
We believe the Bible is the Word of God, written by human authors under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. The Scriptures are true and trustworthy and are our final authority for what we believe and how we live.
2 Timothy 3:16-17; Psalm 119:105; John 17:17; 2 Peter 1:20-21
THE TRINITY
We believe in one God eternally existing in three persons–Father, Son, and Holy Spirit–each of whom is fully and equally God, distinct in person yet one in essence, eternally united in perfect love.
Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 3:16-17; Matthew 28:19; 2 Corinthians 13:14
GOD THE FATHER
We believe in God the Father, Creator, Sustainer, and sovereign Ruler of all things. He is infinite, eternal, holy, perfect in wisdom, power, and love. In his mercy and love, he sent his Son to rescue us from sin and reconcile us to himself.
Genesis 1:1; Psalm 90:2; Psalm 103:19; John 3:16-17; Ephesians 1:3-5
JESUS CHRIST
We believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God, the second person of the Trinity, fully God and fully human. Conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary, he lived a sinless life, died on
the cross as an atoning sacrifice for our sins, rose bodily from the dead, ascended to heaven, and will return again.
Matthew 1:18-23; John 1:1-14; Acts 1:9-11; 1 Corinthians 15:3-4; Hebrews 4:14-15
THE HOLY SPIRIT
We believe the Holy Spirit is fully God, equal with the Father and the Son. The Holy Spirit convicts of sin, gives new life, and dwells within every believer, transforming us to become more like Jesus and empowering, guiding, and equipping us to faithfully follow him.
John 14:16-17, 26; John 16:7-15; Acts 1:8; Romans 8:9-14
HUMANITY
We believe God created all human beings in his image, and therefore every person possesses inherent dignity, worth, and purpose. We were created to know and love God, reflect his character, love one another, and live for his glory.
Genesis 1:26-31; Psalm 8:3-6; Psalm 139:13-14; Matthew 22:37-39
SIN
We believe all people are created in the image of God, but all are sinners by nature and by choice. Sin separates us from God, and we cannot restore our relationship with him through our own efforts. Only through faith in Jesus Christ can we be reconciled to God.
Genesis 1:26-27; Romans 3:23; Romans 5:12; Ephesians 2:8-9
SALVATION
We believe salvation comes by grace through faith in Jesus Christ alone. Through his life, death, and resurrection, Jesus accomplished what we could never earn. Those who repent and place their faith in Jesus as Savior and Lord are forgiven, reconciled to God, and given new and eternal life.
John 3:16-17; Romans 3:23-26; 1 Corinthians 15:3-4; Ephesians 2:8-10; Titus 3:4-7
THE CHURCH
We believe the Church is the global community of all who have placed their faith in Jesus Christ, with Christ as its head. The Church gathers locally to worship God, grow as disciples, care for one another, practice baptism and communion, proclaim the gospel, and make disciples of Jesus.
Matthew 16:18; Matthew 28:18-20; Acts 2:42-47; Colossians 1:18
BAPTISM
We believe baptism is an ordinance given by Jesus through which believers publicly identify with his death and resurrection and declare their new life in Christ. We practice baptism by immersion for those who have personally placed their faith in Jesus.
Matthew 28:18-20; Acts 2:38-41; Romans 6:3-4
COMMUNION
We believe communion, or the Lord's Supper, was instituted by Jesus for his Church. Through the bread and the cup, we remember Christ's sacrifice for us, proclaim his saving death, celebrate our unity in him, and look forward to his return.
Luke 22:19–20; 1 Corinthians 10:16-17; 1 Corinthians 11:23-26
MARRIAGE
We believe marriage is a gift from God and a lifelong covenant between one man and one woman, with sexual intimacy reserved for marriage. We affirm the goodness of both marriage and singleness and God's call for every follower of Jesus to pursue faithfulness and holiness.
Genesis 1:27; Genesis 2:24; Matthew 19:4-6; 1 Corinthians 7:32-35; Hebrews 13:4
